App Economy in California Has $8 Billion Impact

California ranks as the nation’s top state for app economy jobs, according to a study released by CTIA-The Wireless Association® and the Application Developers Alliance. “The Geography of the App Economy” study, conducted by South Mountain Economics, LLC, found that application development is responsible for 151,900 jobs in California, with an economic impact of more than $8 billion. 

App Economy Created 519,000 Jobs Across the U.S.

Washington, D.C. (October 4, 2012) – The app economy has created 519,000 jobs nationwide  and is a significant economic driver for a number of states, according to a study released today by CTIA-The Wireless Association® and the Application Developers Alliance. The report, entitled “The Geography of the App Economy,” also calculates the number of app economy jobs in each state, the “app intensity” (share of app economy jobs relative to overall jobs) and the economic impact for states. The research was conducted by Dr. Michael Mandel and Judith Scherer of South Mountain Economics, LLC.

App Economy Generates More Than $1 Billion for Texas Economy

(October 4, 2012) - Texas ranks 4th in the nation for app economy jobs, according to a study released today by CTIA- The Wireless Association® and the Application Developers Alliance. The research, conducted by South Mountain Economics, LLC, found that application development is responsible for 25,000 jobs in Texas, with an economic impact of more than $1 billion. 

App Economy Generates More than $1 Billion for Massachusetts Economy

(October 4, 2012) - Massachusetts ranks as one of the nation’s app industry leaders, according to a study released today by CTIA-The Wireless Association®  and the Application Developers Alliance. The research, conducted by South Mountain Economics, LLC and entitled “The Geography of the App Economy,” found that application development is responsible for 21,400 jobs in Massachusetts, with an economic impact of more than $1 billion. That makes Massachusetts the 3rd most “app intense” state in the country. “App Intensity” is a measure of app economy jobs relative to jobs overall.

(October 4, 2012) - Washington ranks first in the nation as an app industry leader, according to a study released today by CTIA-The Wireless Association® and the Application Developers Alliance. The research, conducted by South Mountain Economics, LLC and entitled “The Geography of the App Economy”, found that application development is responsible for 49,800 jobs in Washington, with an economic impact of more than $2 billion. That makes Washington the nation’s most “app intense” state. App intensity is a measure of the number of app economy jobs relative to the number of jobs in a state overall. 

App Economy Generates $788 Million for Virginia’s Economy

Washington, D.C. (October 4, 2012) - Virginia ranks as a national app industry leader, according to a study released today by CTIA-The Wireless Association® and the Application Developers Alliance. The research, conducted by South Mountain Economics, LLC and entitled “The Geography of the App Economy”, found that application development is responsible for 15,000 jobs in Virginia, with an economic impact of $788 million. That makes Virginia the 8th most “app intense” state in the nation. App intensity measures the number of app related jobs in a state relative to the number of jobs overall. 

App Economy Generates More than $600 Million for Pennsylvania Economy

Washington, D.C. (October 4, 2012) - Pennsylvania ranks as a top state for app industry employment, according to a study released today by CTIA-The Wireless Association® and the Application Developers Alliance. The research, conducted by South Mountain Economics, LLC and entitled “The Geography of the App Economy,” found that application development is responsible for 12,900 jobs in Pennsylvania, with an economic impact of $632 million.
