Apps Alliance: FTC Ruling Slap on the Wrist – Calls on Congress to Stop Patent Trolls

Statement from Jon Potter, President, Application Developers Alliance:

Patent trolls like MPHJ are economic parasites that bleed more than $80 billion from our economy each year. This settlement doesn’t even qualify as a slap on the wrist to a company that sent demand letters to thousands of businesses – extorting money, threatening jobs, and stifling innovation.

These bottom-feeding harassers must be stopped. MPHJ and their attorneys should have been held accountable for their actions. The settlement is further evidence that comprehensive patent legislation – including demand letter provisions with teeth – is necessary.
